Actress Emma Watson says in a recent interview that her role in The Bling Ring was unique because for the first time, she was portraying someone she couldn’t relate to.

Watson shared the remarks with MTV when asked about the Sofia Coppola project. As we reported last month, the film is to open in theaters this June. “I had to get into the shoes of someone that I couldn’t relate to, and I never had to do that before,” Watson explained. “And by the end of it – it was really interesting getting into this girl’s head. She represents a lot of work I basically stand against, so it was really fascinating to break it down and be like, ‘What is this actually about?'”

In the same video interview, the Harry Potter and Perks of Being a Wallflower star shared an update on Guillermo Del Toro’s Beauty and the Beast. “We met [in September], we started working on a script.” Filming, she said, is likely to begin this summer. Being so busy with other film projects, she was afraid the opportunity to play Belle may slip away. “I was nervous. I was like ‘Oh is it gonna go away,” but Guillermo is still so psyched about it. He’s been thinking about it so much.”

We learned in February that Watson had joined Guillermo Del Toro’s Beauty and the Beast cast.
