Eminem has released his latest single, “Berzerk,” from his newly announced album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

With the title of the album, and lyrics like, “Let’s take it back to straight hip-hop and start it from scratch,” and “Let’s bring it back to that vintage Slim, bitch! / The art of the MCing mixed with da Vinci and MC Ren,” it’s obvious that Eminem will be going back to his roots.
This will be quite a difference from his most recent sound, heard on his last album, Recovery. However, considering fans were split over the “new” Eminem, citing that he sounded too preachy, perhaps The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will give them more of the Eminem they grew up with.
It certainly is a risk, considering the success the original Marshall Mathers LP had both domestically and internationally.

Sunday night during the MTV VMAs, two commercials aired, giving fans information about the new album and a snippet of “Berzerk.”
MMLP2 will release on November 5, 2013. The album will be produced by Eminem’s mentor and long time collaborator Dr. Dre, as well as Rick Rubin.
A music video for “Bezerk” is sure to come in the following weeks, and it will be interesting to see if Em will be sporting the blond look that we haven’t seen in so long, but was featured during the second commercial that aired on Sunday.
The Marshall Mathers LP debuted in 2000 and has since sold over 21 million records worldwide. This is the record that put Eminem on the map for mainstream audiences, having given us hits like “The Real Slim Shady,” “The Way I Am,” and “Stan.”
