On his last day in office, President Obama received a moving tribute from Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen Show.

Today is Inauguration Day, which means that Barack Obama will no longer be the President of the United States.

One of the many people mourning the end of his historic presidency is Ellen, who took a moment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to thank him for his “courage and compassion,” which “created equality for everyone.”

“I am a legally married woman because of him, and so is my wife,” she said, acknowledging everything he’s done to support same-sex marriage.

Watch her moving speech below, as well as the amazing montage of her interacting with Barack and Michelle:

In true Ellen style, the sequence also included a humorous little insert of Ellen accepting a standing ovation at Obama’s final speech as President:

Thanks, Obama.
