The JJ Abrams-produced FOX drama Alcatraz, which is set to premiere in mid-season 2012, has seen a major change as Jennifer Johnson and Daniel Pyne replace Elizabeth Sarnoff as showrunners!

Deadline reported the scoop, writing that Sarnoff (who wrote the version of the pilot script which FOX picked up) has left the position as showrunner because of “creative differences,” but is expected to remain connected to Alcatraz as an executive producer.

Chase creator and former Lost writer Jennifer Johnson was “quietly elevated” to showrunner alongside Sarnoff two months ago, and now she will be sharing the job with Fractures writer Daniel Pyne.

Two weeks ago, it was decided that filming of the series be put on hold in order to do reshoots for the seven completed episodes. The writers are currently working on scripts, and more reshoots are being scheduled.

This seems an awful lot of trouble for a show that hasn’t even premiered yet.
