We’re still reeling from The 100 season 2, episode 8, but we have to look forward: exciting things are going to happen as a result.

Last night, The 100 killed off its second main character, and coincidentally they’ve both been Clarke’s love interests. Watch out, Bellamy.

(We jest to mask our tears. It was heartbreaking.)

Finn (Thomas McDonell) bowed out in the saddest possible way, as Clarke stuck a knife in him to spare him from the slow, torturous death the Grounders had planned.

We’ve got a lengthy review of the episode up in which we discuss the development further. For now, let’s focus on what happens next.

Speaking to TV Line, Eliza Taylor previews how this will affect her character going forward – and admits that she’s really excited about the development.

“We’re going to see her break, definitely,” she says. “What’s good about this, in a way, is that it’ll force her to evolve into a real leader.”

When she read the script, “I thought it was kind of brilliant,” Taylor says. “It really gives me, as an actor, a lot more places to go. It’s such a powerful end to Finn’s journey. I was really, really impressed when I read the episode.”

While most characters will understand Clarke’s decision to kill Finn and spare him from unnecessary pain, we’ll see Raven struggle to accept what has happened.

“That friendship is over, at least for quite a while,” Taylor previews.

We’re heading into the winter finale now, with The 100 season 2, episode 9 airing January 21, 2015.

Were you shocked at what happened to Finn, or did you see it coming?
