As an official selection of the Cannes Film Festival, the Maniac remake has been picking up a lot of hype recently. A new teaser trailer has been released for the film, giving us our first real look at the direction of the film. This post contains material that is NSFW.

Maniac is a remake of the 1980 slasher horror of the same name, which tells the gruesome story of a disturbed serial killer (Wood) who takes great pleasure in scalping his victims. The Lord of the Rings actor will star alongside Nora Arnezeder (Safe House), Morgane Slemp (Friday Night Lights) and America Olivio (2009′s Friday the 13th remake).

It seems that a large proportion of the muder/chase scenes will be shown through the eyes of the killer, a trick consistently used in slasher films of old.
