Elementary season 3, episode 9, “The Eternity Injection,” airs tomorrow night and an old friend makes his way back to the brownstone!

A few weeks ago, before Elementary went on a brief winter hiatus, Sherlock’s sobriety meetings were compromised. Not one to openly share his feelings, Sherlock finally began to open up regularly at the meetings. The cathartic effect was taken away when he discovered that a fellow member was posting his shares on a website for other recovering addicts.

If Sherlock’s sobriety is in question you can almost guarantee that one person, besides his ex-sober companion, is bound to make an appearance. Alfredo (At Essandoh), Sherlock’s sponsor, will appear in this week’s episode, “The Eternity Injection.”

Elementary season 3, episode 9 has a focus on Joan’s past career in medicine. The synopsis reads, “When a nurse Watson used to work with asks for her help finding their missing acquaintance, the woman’s trail leads Watson and Holmes to another person who has disappeared. Also, Sherlock struggles with his sobriety when he finds the recovery process monotonous.”

Watch a sneak peek clip of tomorrow’s episode featuring Joan and Kitty trying to solve one of Sherlock’s cryptic text messages:

There is only so much Sherlock can do to distance himself from those who are concerned for his sobriety. Regardless of Sherlock’s feelings about the meetings in the present, they have proven to be quite useful for his recovery. Alfredo is an invaluable resource to Sherlock. He is able to get at Sherlock in a way that even Joan sometimes cannot achieve.

Alfredo is not one to let Sherlock weasel his way out of meetings even when Sherlock claims the case is of paramount importance. It will be interesting to see how Alfredo and Sherlock navigate this latest challenge.

Elementary season 3, episode 9, “The Eternity Injection,” airs Thursday, January 8 at 10:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
