Joan is paid a visit by a former colleague and ex-boyfriend from medical school in this week’s Elementary. See what Sherlock has to say about the matter in an exclusive clip!

With Andrew off in Copenhagen for the foreseeable future, Joan is left with a long distance relationship that begins to wear on her. In this week’s Elementary season 3, episode 7, “The Adventure of the Nutmeg Concoction,” an old flame from med school, guest star Christian Camargo, returns to Watson’s life looking for her help. But he has other intentions and Joan does not turn down his advances toward her. Sherlock has his own view of the matter after he coaxes the problem out of Joan. But is his assessment correct?

Watch the clip here:

Sherlock has a way of offering his opinion whether is it wanted or not. In this instance he seems to nail Joan’s problem right on the head. The conflict she feels between doing what is conventional and satisfying her need for the eccentric harkens back to season 1 when her mother pays the detectives a visit. Sherlock rises to the occasion, explaining that Joan’s career, then as a sober companion with hints of detective assistance, is the right fit for her daughter, conventional or not.

Will the same, if not more brutally honest, tactic work in this case? Joan certainly has a lot to think about when it comes to how she will proceed with her romantic endeavors, but these struggles are part of the life she wished to pursue apart from Sherlock’s watchful eye. That doesn’t mean he won’t be around to offer his two cents on the matter!
