Tonight’s Elementary season 3, episode 23 follows the honey trail back to a familiar foe in Sherlock’s fight against colony collapse disorder.

Fans of Elementary, who have been paying attention all season, can expect to be rewarded for their keen eyes and ears in this week’s episode, “Absconded.” Holmes and Watson are called off to an apiary where a man who frequents the same beekeeping community boards at BeeCircuit.com is found dead.

Last week’s episode investigated a prison break that had ties to private companies in a bidding war over acquiring a new prison. What is more relevant to this week’s case is an episode that took place back in January. Recall back in “Seed Money” a woman bought a rare plant from a black market site. She worked for an agricultural company called AgriNex. The company saw its fair share of troubles in “Seed Money” when their CFO and a member of their Board of Directors were set on fire in front of their building and one of their senior members killed a man after a lover’s quarrel. The company reenters the spotlight as the company whose insecticide, as Holmes previously pointed out, is linked to the Northeast’s colony collapse epidemic.

Sherlock finds himself situated against AgriNex once more, when the notes of the victim point accusations in the direction of the “soulless corporate Gollum.” Conveniently, a summit is in town to discuss the issue of 100 million bee deaths and a leader in the field, Tara Parker, played by guest star Sutton Foster, will be in attendance.

Captain Gregson has some news that could potentially shake up the dynamic of the precinct and Holmes and Watson’s job stability.
