Elementary‘s season 3 premiere is right around the corner! Check out what to expect in episode 1, “Enough Nemesis To Go Around.”

New York, New York. Who could stay away for long? Apparently not the deductive reasoning savant, Sherlock Holmes. Returning from his stint in London at the close of season 2, Sherlock returns to New York after 8 months working for MI6, but he does not return alone. Elementary‘s third season kicks off with Joan and Sherlock’s rocky reunion and a less than pleasant meeting with the new-Watson.

Ophelia Lovibond guest stars as Kitty Winter, Holmes’ new apprentice.

‘Elementary’ season 3 premiere synopsis:

“Enough Nemesis To Go Around” – “Holmes returns to New York with a new apprentice and a renewed interest in working with the NYPD after being fired by London’s MI6. However, Captain Gregson won’t let him resume consulting for the department without permission from his former partner, Watson, the NYPD’s new go-to private investigator, on the third season premiere of Elementary.”

Joan is left with no choice but to build a life for herself apart from Sherlock. Recall that at the end of last season, Joan began searching for apartments away from the brownstone. Sherlock took her decision to live apart quiet poorly and went off in search of a new adventure of his own. Only instead of moving across town, he flies across the country to work for a top secret British operative.

The return of Sherlock to New York is expected, especially if the show were to continue, but the introduction of, to quote season 2 Mr. Holmes himself, “such a free radical into an otherwise highly functional relationship,” hints that he needs the stability of a 24-hour partnership more than he let on to Watson. He will no doubt weasel his way back into Watson’s life and the NYPD homicide team, but the question is, how willing is Waston to take him back?

Be sure to catch Elementary season 3, episode 1, “Enough Nemesis To Go Around,” airing Thursday, October 30 at 10:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
