We are, unfortunately, living in the golden age for remakes and reboots in Hollywood. So while all these live-action films and reboots are being announced, we thought we’d take a stab at guessing what will be coming up in Hollywood over the next 10 years.

When you can’t come up with something new and original, you go to what worked and you remake it! At least, that’s what everyone in Hollywood seems to think.
With such a disappointing amount of original films coming out lately, the surprise is slowly getting taken away from us when a film studio announces they’re going to redo one of their older films. Whether that film is a classic like Annie or a fresher face like Spider-Man, it seems that one thing is guaranteed in Hollywood: If your project does well it will probably get remade in about 10 years.

And so as we look on and imagine what the next 10 years of film will look like, we thought to ourselves, “What films (and shows) are most likely to be remade before 2025?” The compilation in the gallery above isn’t necessarily a list of remakes that we want but rather a list that we can totally envision happening. Yes, there are definitely a few wish list items up there like Harry Potter as a TV series, a live-action Anastasia and of course Firefly, but there’s a couple we see happening regardless of whether or not we want them, like The Little Mermaid and The Sound of Music.
