Edgar Wright has announced a new directorial project, a yet-to-be-named psychological thriller set in modern-day London.

While Edgar Wright has several hits and well-loved films under his belt like the Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Baby Driver, he’s not resting on his laurels. Wright has announced that he’s working on a brand new film, which is set to be a psychological thriller.

There’s no word yet on the title of the film, casting, or if this movie will be a serious thriller or have the comedic leanings of other Edgar Wright-directed movies. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is going to be set in modern-day London, feature a female lead, and has films like Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion as influences.

This new movie will be set in central London, SoHo specifically, which is an area that Wright told THR he has spent a great deal of time in over the past 25 years. As Wright explained to THR, “I realized I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years. With Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.”

This new movie is set to film this summer and will be from a screenplay co-written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns, a writer on Penny Dreadful. Edgar Wright has a unique directorial eye, and his films always manage to charm audiences with his creative and personal lens, so we can’t wait to see what he’ll bring to this new movie. We’ll keep you updated as more news breaks about this film.
