Our first look at Fantastic Beasts is finally here!

Entertainment Weekly revealed the very first photo of Eddie Redmayne as Newt in the Wizarding World spinoff on Wednesday morning. The lead character is holding a “pivotal” briefcase as he stands “inside the entrance of the majestic art deco-influenced Magical Congress of the United States of America (or MACUSA), which is the American version of the Ministry of Magic.”

We wonder how J.K. Rowling feels about EW yelling “HARRY POTTER PREQUEL” across the center of the first look since this isn’t really a prequel. Nonetheless, Eddie looks great and we’re thrilled to finally see a preview of the highly-anticipated movie!

Update: Several more stills have been released and depict Newt, his wife Tina (Katherine Waterston), Tina’s sister Queenie (Alison Sudol), and Jacob (Dan Fogler). We also see director David Yates in one of the photos.

Yesterday Warner Brothers launched the official social media accounts and a website for the film which opens in theaters next November. As we wrote yesterday, the title art appears to be inspired by the look of a dragon.

EW says more Fantastic Beasts info will be shared in their cover story when it hits newsstands this Friday, so stay tuned.
