Ed Sheeran has a James Bond song ready to join the ranks of Adele’s “Skyfall” and Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On The Wall.”

The James Bond series has so many time-honored traditions associated with it, but the James Bond song is one of the most iconic. The songs usually gain as much fame as the movies themselves, if not more, and are always Awards favorites.

Not just anyone can write a James Bond song. The honor is coveted among British song-writers. Most recently, the privilege has been given to Sam Smith and Adele.

When you think of successful, talented, English singer/song-writers, Ed Sheeran’s name is pretty near the top of the list. Strangely, though, he hasn’t yet been asked to pen a song for 007. Well, he hasn’t let that stop him! Apparently, he’s had a James Bond song written for three years, “just in case.”

He confessed this when he stopped by The Late Late Show in Ireland on Friday. Unfortunately, that’s all the information he would divulge. When asked to spill the title of his James Bond track, he said “I’m not going to say, because someone might steal it.” If he’s already that worried about theft, we’re guessing it’s a good one!

Now that Ed Sheeran has made this public proclamation, we’re guessing it’s only a matter of time before he’s asked to lend his songwriting prowess to the James Bond franchise. He said “if ever I’m called, I’ll be like ‘alright, there you go.'” If that never happens, we’re just hoping he still releases the track for his fans!
