Konami did not have a traditional press conference at E3 2012, instead opting to reveal their products before the event officially begins. The publisher took the opportunity to reveal a new Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance trailer and officially announce Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

The pre-E3 press conference started off with Konami discussing their upcoming social games and their new studio in San Francisco.

Only slightly more interesting, talk then moved to the publisher’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2013. The two main changes in this year’s iteration include better player identification of the game’s top talent and better ball control.

Nothing like Japanese robot anime to get me interested. Zone of the Enders and Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima then took to the screen. Kojima revealed that a new animated opening cinematic is being developed by Sunrise for the Zone of the Enders HD Collection. The new opening can be seen below.

It was also revealed that an early access demo of Metal Gear Rising Revengeance will come with the ZOE HD Collection.

Metal Gear Solid’s 25th anniversary was the next topic of the press conference. Kojima discussed the evolution of the series over the years and that the series is present in the Smithsonian’s Art of Video Games Exhibit.

Kojima touched on his new Fox Engine, though did not reveal any information about it.

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance was the next project shown off with the reveal of a new trailer, seen below.

The trailer shows off the game’s giant robots, swordplay and the new Ninja Mode that allows Raiden to run farther and higher, as well as use it as an attack.

“Within the Metal Gear series Raiden has always been this really cool character with incredible action scenes,” said Yuji Korekado, creative producer at Kojima Studio, during the presentation. “Unfortunately these scenes were always cutscenes that users weren’t able to control.”

The trailer also revealed the game is coming “Early 2013.”

The first playable version of the game will be available at E3.

Finally, Konami ended the press conference with two Castlevania titles, the first of which being Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Konami showed the first CG trailer for the game that looks like it picks up right after the surprise ending of the first. Check it out for yourself below.

The second Castlevania game was not named, though the words “Look into the Mirror” appeared at the ending the trailer, alluding to the 3DS game that leaked this week.

You can check out the whole show for yourself here.
