The Fifty Shades of Grey series lives on thanks to a fourth book titled Grey, entirely from the perspective of Christian.

Grey is Fifty Shades of Grey but from the viewpoint of the male lead who woo’d Anastasia Steele. It is James’ first book since publishing the Fifty Shades of Grey finale Fifty Shades Freed.

The new book will be released on June 18, 2015 — Christian’s birthday. That’s just over two weeks away! Order now on Amazon.

The book is 576 pages long. By comparison, Fifty Shades of Grey is 514 pages.

“This book is dedicated to those readers who asked…and asked… and asked… and asked for this,” James said in a statement.

“Christian is a complex character,” she continued, “and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place-writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with the fantastic team at Vintage.”

A synopsis for the book reads: “Readers know Christian as someone who exercises control in all aspects of his life. His world is neat, disciplined, and empty-until the moment that Anastasia Steele stumbles into his office. What is it about her that captivates him? Why can’t he forget her? He is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist.”

As diehard fans know, Fifty Shades of Grey actually started as a Twilight fan-fiction. It’s interesting that the story is now getting a fourth book from the lead male’s perspective, because that was Twilight Stephenie Meyer’s plan too for her vampire series before Midnight Sun leaked in the summer of 2008. The author was “upset” by the leak and decided to only release a draft online instead of publishing it.

With only 17 days until Grey is published, there’s little chance that this book will be leaked. As a matter of fact, it’s surprising that we’re getting such short notice about the book’s publication. Usually books are announced much further in advance.

If Grey is a hit, will E.L. James publish the two Fifty Shades sequels (Darker and Freed) from Christian’s perspective too? Only time will tell.

The new book comes at an already exciting time for the Fifty Shades fandom. It’s only been a few months since Fifty Shades of Grey hit theaters and made an amazing $569 million worldwide. Now a sequel is in development which will hit theaters in February 2017. The finale will hit theaters February 2018.
