DreamWorks Animation has committed to adapting How to Train Your Dragon author Cressida Cowell’s new novel The Wizards of Once.
Via Deadline we’ve learned that DreamWorks is adapting another novel from Cressida Cowell after previously taking on her How to Train Your Dragon series.
The first installment of the series, The Wizards Of Once, is not released until September. But based on the description, we’re definitely picking up some Dragon vibes!
Main character Xar is a 12-year-old wizard prince who has no magical powers while 12-year-old Wish is a warrior princess in possession of a magical object that proves troublesome in a land where magic is illegal.
The pair collide while searching for a deadly wish, and embark on a grand adventure.
Says new DreamWorks Feature Animation Group president Chris deFaria in a statement:
“The story is packed with the perfect elements to create a unique magical universe inhabited by adventurous, funny and memorable characters that will enthrall generations to come. We are honored to have another opportunity to partner with this amazingly creative author.”
DreamWorks’ last released movie Trolls was a massive global hit and has set a sequel for 2020. Next up is Boss Baby, premiering today.
