The first three Dragon Quest games will hit for the Switch on the same day as the Dragon Quest 11 remaster.

September is officially the most Dragon Quest-y month in quite some time. Four of the turn-based battling fantasy series’ best titles will soon be playable on Nintendo’s console/portable gaming hybrid, making it all the easier to catch up on your level grinding and loot farming.

Square Enix took to the official Dragon Quest Twitter account to announce the re-releases, marking the first time that these three games are being called by their proper names in the West (until 1992’s Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen, the series was dubbed “Dragon Warrior“).

Dragon Quest I released in 1989 for the NES, with 1990’s Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line following close behind it. Dragon Quest III: Seeds of Salvation hit for the NES in 1992, with IV marking the last of the JRPG series to release for the NES. All three of the first Dragon Quest games are critically acclaimed, text-based RPG titles, and are often said to have given birth to the rise in popularity of the JRPG genre.

All three games come in at a pretty reasonable price, with Dragon Quest selling for $4.99, Dragon Quest II for $6.49, and Dragon Quest III for $12.49. The higher up you go in the series, it seems, the more Square Enix wants you to shell out for each games’ digital release.

The coming Dragon Quest XI S – Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch is garnering some hype from its mostly unheard of demo. The special edition of Dragon Quest XI will also release on September 27, 2019.
