Dracula, a new series coming to Netflix, just revealed its first teaser trailer, and it looks like a bone-chilling take on the classic story.

Netflix is hitting the vampire content hard these days. Not only have they released the new show V Wars, but they’re also taking it back to the vampiric classic, Dracula.

The streamer is releasing a mini-series from Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat about the infamous creature of the night, and from the looks of the first Netflix teaser, this is going to be a fun return to the world of spooky, dangerous vampires. Take a peek at the teaser below (mild gore content warning).

This new Dracula mini-series is based on the famous novel by Bram Stoker and transforms the legend of the famous vampire by shining a brighter light on some of his most infamous, bloody crimes while also highlighting more of Dracula’s vulnerabilities. The deadly vampire is played by Claes Bang from The Girl in the Spider’s Web, and from the looks of the teaser, he pulls off Dracula’s mix of appeal and utter horror pretty expertly.

In the trailer, we get a barrage of unsettling and terrifying images from drops of blood, to a literal fly in someone’s eye, nails falling off of fingers, and the introduction to Dracula himself. He ends the trailer with one utterly chilling line, “All you have to do is invite me in.”

The trailer is deeply unsettling, but for fans of Stoker’s novel, this looks like an exciting adaptation of the classic book. While it’s always fun to see the many adaptations and interpretations of vampiric lore, it’s nice to see vampires go back to one of the original stories of the deadly, blood-sucking creatures.

Thankfully, US audiences won’t have to wait too long to see this exciting new miniseries. Dracula lands on Netflix on January 4 and will release around the same time in the UK on BBC One.
