The folks at NBC have heard our prayers and announced the female lead for the new series Dracula! Jessica De Guow has been cast as the main love interest opposite star Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Jessica De Gouw will play Mina Murray a beautiful medical student who is engaged to Jonathan Harker reports Deadline. Dracula, played by Meyers, is posing as an American entrepreneur under the name of Allen Grayson. When Mina meets Dracula posing as Allen they are both enthralled with the feeling that they know each other from the past. Dracula comes to believe that Mina is the reincarnation of his dead wife.

The series is set in the late 19th century and focuses on Dracula’s arrival to London. Wanting to bring modern science to Victorian society he poses as an American entrepreneur. His belief is that electricity will be especially useful for his avoidance of daylight. Dracula also plans to get revenge on those who crossed him hundreds of years earlier.

The show will be a mixture of the Bram Stoker novels and original content with inspiration from Vlad the Impaler, the Ottoman Empire, and the turn of the century. The series will air in the fall 2013 season.
