ITV is getting ready to promote Downton Abbey series 5. A new teaser video released today features a voiceover from Mr. Carson.

And unfortunately, that’s all this Downton Abbey series 5 teaser includes. “I feel a shaking of the ground I stand on,” says Carson (played by Jim Carter). “The nature of life is not permanence but flux. Things are changing.”

The message is certainly ominous, and what makes it even more interesting is that it doesn’t sound like it’s a clip from the show itself.

ITV describes this video as a “first look at the Downton Abbey series 5 teaser,” so it looks like we have something larger coming at us soon.

Will Downton Abbey series 5 have major changes in store, like Carson is suggesting? As usual, plot secrets are being held very close to the vest by the show’s cast and crew. United Kingdom residents will only have to wait until September to learn about what’s going on at the Abbey, while those in America will have to wait until early 2015 to watch on PBS.

What we do know about series 5 is that several new actors and actresses have been brought on board to play new characters. Sue Johnston will play Violet’s maid, Rade Sherbedgia will play a Russian refugee, and Anna Chancellor will take on a guest role as Lady Anstruther.

What do you think this ‘Downton Abbey’ series 5 teaser is hinting at?

We hope that a real teaser trailer with the first footage is unveiled sooner rather than later!
