Filming on Downton Abbey series 5 is already under way, and photos from the set appear to confirm who Mary selects as her new man. Spoiler warning!

Photos shared by The Sun depict Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary) and Tom Cullen (Lord Gillingham) filming a scene in London where they exit a hotel and share a kiss outside. According to the report, the scene in the photos is set in Liverpool.

While these photos don’t 100% confirm that Mary will end up with Gillingham, we can’t help but remember that their friendship during series 4 appeared to be on a path towards an eventual union. Gillingham had ended an engagement with another woman because of Mary and asked for her hand in marriage (Mary said no).

Gillingham was one of Mary’s suitors competing for her heart over the course of series 4, which airs its finale this Sunday on PBS in the United States. Gillingham and Blake made frequent, polite advances on Mary, but she remained adamant all season that she was not ready to move on from Matthew who tragically died at the end of series 3.

The early episodes of Downton Abbey series 4 showed Mary struggling to move on from Matthew. She was in a deep state of depression, but thanks to her supportive family (namely Violet), she began climbing out of her hole.

Downton Abbey is expected to premiere in the fall in the U.K. and in early 2015 in the United States.
