Two reports on U.K. tabloids reveal a slew of new photos from the Downton Abbey series 5 set.
In photos released by Metro today we see Lady Mary and Branson walking around town together while the latter holds a large parchment of some sort. Could he have some plans for some new construction around the city? Is he stretching his political muscle?
Robert appears in a handful of the same photos with the family dog, and they’re all walking outside of what looks like a cemetery in the background. The three characters teamed up with one another in series 4 to manage the estate, and it looks like this will continue through series 5.

Speaking of a cemetery, in photos on the Daily Mail we see Lady Violet (Maggie Smith) and Isobel Crawley (Penelope Wilton) walking on the grounds of a resting place for the dead. Thomas and Baxter also appear in a couple photos. This is a bit of a surprising development considering Baxter told off Thomas at the end of series 4 when she started getting closer to Molesley.
No one in either set of photos is wearing black, so it doesn’t look like they’re attending a funeral within that cemetery they’re walking near – thank goodness.
Downton Abbey series 5 is expected to premiere in September of this year in the United Kingdom followed by a debut in the United States in January.
