Tonight Downton Abbey will reach its season halfway point with series 4, episode 5 airing at 9 p.m. local time on ITV.

Reads the episode synopsis, “Change is in the air as an exciting opportunity for Alfred creates tension between Ivy and Daisy. Isobel appeals to Violet’s sense of charity, but it doesn’t come without a fight, and Branson considers a whole new future for himself and baby Sybbie.”

A clip from the storyline depicts the Branson plot point referenced above in which Tom and Mary are both playing with their respective children. The clip is significant in part because it’s the first time we’re seeing Mary (played by Michelle Dockery) play with her and Matthew’s child following the father’s untimely passing:

The trouble between Bates and Anna continues to be intriguing because the latter will have to soon make a tough choice about how to deal with telling her partner that she was raped. Anna has been hesitant to tell him because she knows he would track down and harm the rapist, which in turn would put Bates back in jail.
