Can’t remember what happened on the first episode back after the long Downton drought, or just need a quick refresher? You can check out our handy recap for episode 1 here.

According to the official synopsis from ITV, we’re going to be seeing those reintroduced plots from the premiere episode catch like, er, wildfire, and continue on into the second — with a new face too, as per the promo images.

The synopsis reads, “With the house recovering from the night’s dramatic events, Robert is faced with a very difficult decision. As Daisy continues to struggle with her studies, Mrs Patmore has an idea which might solve everything. Thomas has it in for Baxter; will his meddling ruin her friendship with Molesley? As Rose tries to convince Robert of the virtues of a wireless at Downton, Lord Merton continues his hot pursuit of Isobel and when Mary puts her reputation on the line, Anna is made a reluctant accomplice.”

There’s no inkling as to whether Jimmy really will be tossed out of Downton, due to his indiscretion with Lady Anstruther, or if Robert may change his mind now that they’re not longer in the heat of the moment. (Okay, okay, no more fire jokes, we promise.) But of no surprise whatsoever is that Thomas will be continuing his pursuit of Baxter, despite her secret finally being out in the open — does he ever stop?

But, in happier news, the radio has come to Downton! We might not see Robert busting out his dance moves any time soon, but it should be an interesting occasion all the same. It may also serve as a distraction as Lady Mary slips away to live her week of sin with potential-future-husband, Lord Gillingham. Let’s hope they don’t forget some form of contraception, as we already have one illegitimate child running around the Downton estate!

The promo images for ‘Downton Abbey’ show the arrival of the wireless, and another guest:

Looks like the wireless may be too much for Carson to handle, if that stiff drink is anything to go by. This is also our first look at Simon Bricker (Richard E. Grant), an art historian and guest of the Crawley family. Do you think he’s getting a little too cosy with Cora?
