It’s finally here, Downton Abbey fans! We have our first real look at the new film based on the hit series in a brand new trailer.

Many of us may have bid adieu to Downton Abbey back in 2015, but thankfully the show’s conclusion wasn’t our final trip to visit the Crawley family thanks to the Downton Abbey feature film, headed our way later this year.

We’ve been waiting a while to finally get a look at what new adventures are headed our way in the film. Thankfully, after literal years of waiting to check back in on the Crawleys, the first full-length trailer has been released, and it’s got us so ready for this movie. You can watch the trailer below.

There are some big changes afoot at Downton! Set approximately 18 months after the series finale, the movie is bringing us back to the family as they return to normal after significant changes like staff changes and marriages just in time for the biggest thing to ever happen at Downton — the King and Queen are set to visit.

It’s a huge deal, obviously, and while Downton Abbey is staffed with some truly talented staff, Lady Mary decides she needs to bring in her ringer if she really wants Downton to shine during its royal visit. Carson, who was able to marry the love of his life just before being forced into early retirement due to signs of palsy, is back to help whip everyone into shape for the visit.

Of course, we’ve still got some questions that need answering about families, babies, and royal visits, but most importantly, what is going to come of all of this talk of leaving Downton? As Anna reminds Mary, Downton is the heart of the community, and for the family to leave would be a huge blow to it.

Thankfully, in the midst of all of this “upstairs/downstairs” drama and potential change, some things never do. The Dowager Countess, played by the incomparable Maggie Smith, is just as sassy as ever. We even get to see her exchange some classic barbs with Isobel at the end of the Downton Abbey trailer.

We didn’t realize how much we missed this family and this world until we saw this trailer. Downton Abbey will premiere in theaters on September 20, and that date just can’t get here quickly enough.
