Last week Downton Abbey and Misfits were nominated at the BAFTA Television Craft Awards. This week, the nominees of the Television Awards have been announced – and both shows have been recognised again!

Downton Abbey star Maggie Smith has been nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award, but faces competition from Anna Chancellor, Monica Dolan and Miranda Hart. Surprisingly, however, the show itself was NOT nominated for Best Drama Series. Misfits was luckier in the prestigious category though – earning itself a place in the top four and being one of the favourites for the award. The show will have to beat out competition from The Fades, Scott and Bailey, and Spooks to win the ceremony’s top prize.

Yesterday we learnt that Sherlock stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Andrew Scott had been nominated in their respective acting categories. Similar to Downton, the show’s absence from the Best Drama Mini-Series list was a shock to both fans and critics.

You can view a full list of the nominations here. The winners will be announced during a ceremony on May 27.

Does Smith deserve to win her award? What are Misfits‘ hopes for a golden mask?
