An intriguing promo and a veritable storm of pictures have been released in advance of Downton Abbey‘s series 3 finale. Speculation and potential spoilers ahead!

Series 3 of Downton Abbey wraps up on ITV this Sunday, and – in case we weren’t excited enough – a slew of promotional material has hit the web.

First off is a stylistic promo appropriately set to a cover of Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are a-Changin'”:

The ’20s, it seems, are finally starting to roar in Downton. It looks like Rose, a relative of Violet’s who will make her first appearance in the finale, is embracing the future with unchecked enthusiasm. We can’t help but think that Rose’s wildness make her road to acceptance in Downton quite difficult – but will she even seek out the approval of her distant family?

Another intriguing marker of changing times is the support which Mrs. Hughes appears to be offering a distraught Thomas. Though not often an object of sympathy in the show, Thomas’s fortunes took a distinct turn for the worse last episode, and they don’t seem likely to improve quickly. Still, at least Mrs. Hughes’ sympathy (which, in spite of her traditional manner, she frequently exhibits toward social outcasts) should count for something, even if the winds of change take Thomas away from Downton.

Next, take a glimpse at these photos from the episode for a look at a maid, a cousin, an editor… and the cast in their cricket togs.

And of course, the official description tells us:

There is excitement in the house and village as the annual cricket match approaches, and it brings out Robert’s competitive side.

As Violet’s great niece Rose arrives, a trip to London reveals there is more to her than meets the eye.

Thomas’s future is in Carson’s hands, but Bates may be an unlikely ally.

What secrets are Mary and Matthew holding back from each other?

The series finale of Downton Abbey airs Sunday, Nov. 4 at 9 p.m. A Christmas special will follow right around the holidays – and whatever this episode brings, we’re sure to have plenty to speculate on until then!
