Tim Schafer’s Double Fine Productions has turned to the crowd-sourcing website Kickstarter to fund its next project, a classic adventure game.

The project’s page describes the new game as a “downloadable ‘Point-and-Click’ graphic adventure game for the modern age.”

The style of game goes back to Schafer’s roots in game development, echoing the style of his Project Lead debut on Day of the Tentacle in 1993 as well as the critically-acclaimed Grim Fandango.

2 Player Productions will be documenting the game development for a series of updates to the project’s donors.

Rewards for donating range from a copy of the game when it is released to the higher levels that include lunch with Schafer and fellow developer Ron Gilbert and beyond.
