The hit U.K. show Skins is back on E4 this summer for its final hurrah. And if you’re a long time fan of the show, or someone who’s never seen an episode before, this is a series finale you can’t miss.

The cult teen show has been praised for, in its previous six series run, having created some of the most compelling and unique stories on television. The show revolves around the life of teens in Bristol on the cusp of adulthood. The show’s radical approach for changing the cast every two years has kept it fresh and current. Now the creators have decided it’s time to say goodbye to beloved characters from the past one last time.

The final series is focused on three of the most loved characters from the show: Effy, Cassie, and Cook. Each get two episodes, where the show delves into how these characters have grown, changed and adapted to adulthood since we last saw them on the show.

The first episode, Skins: Fire, aired on Monday this week. It follows Effy and her new adult life in London. Effy’s considered by many in the fandom to be the face of Skins. She’s the longest running character on the show and is played flawlessly by Kaya Scodelario, who recently begun filming for the book to film adaptation of The Maze Runner.

If you’ve not seen the show before, why not start now? These episodes play as stand alone feature films. You won’t feel confused or lost if you’ve not seen the show before, but you will feel cheated out of a remarkable experience if you don’t watch this final series.

If you’re a long time fan of the show, learning what has become of your favorite characters won’t disappoint. A show like Skins comes once every 50 years, and these are episodes that will be watched far beyond that.
