We area long way out from the 2019 premiere of The Lion King, and Jon Favreau just tweeted out a picture of Donald Glover recording for the film that made waiting a bit harder.

If you haven’t heard about Favreau’s live-action adaptation of The Lion King, the film is set to have one of the most impressive casts in quite some time. With Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, and actors like Chiwetel Ejiofor, James Earl Jones, Alfre Woodard, John Oliver, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen rounding out the rest of the cast, the film is undoubtedly going to be amazing.

Unfortunately, we have quite a while to wait until we reach the film’s premiere, but Jon Favreau just tweeted out a picture to show that The Lion King team is already hard at work. It might not be much, but we know that Donald Glover, Simba himself, has started work on the film.

The picture doesn’t reveal anything about the film, but it’s incredibly exciting to see the wheels start turning on this movie. Favreau’s adaptation of The Jungle Book was incredibly well-received by audiences, and we can’t wait to see what he does with this CG-adaptation of The Lion King. Of course, with an all-star cast like this one, it’s hard to imagine the film not being awesome.

So how long do we officially have to wait for The Lion King to hit theaters? The film is set to premiere on July 19, 2019, so we’ll just have to re-watch the original cartoon until the first trailer drops.

What are you most excited to see in the new ‘Lion King’ movie?
