Don Rickles passed away at the age of 90 earlier this week, and although he was expected to return for Pixar’s Toy Story 4, he didn’t record his lines before his death.

To younger moviegoers, Rickles is best known for his voice role as Mr. Potato Head in Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story series. The fourth installment was announced a couple years ago, and the movie is slated to hit theaters in June 2019.

Though the film has been in development for a while, Rickles never recorded his dialogue. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is currently undergoing rewrites.

“The plot for the film and how big of a role Mr. Potato Head plays in it are still unknown, but it is possible that Rickles could still be included in Toy Story 4, using previously recorded material from the prior films,” THR says.

Hypable disagrees — we suggest Pixar hire someone new, who can sound like Don Rickles, to take over as Mr. Potato Head. We don’t want to see Mr. Potato Head’s role reduced just because Rickles has passed.
