Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings is set to premiere via Netflix on November 22.

Original Story (6/4/18):

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix as officially given the green light to an upcoming new anthology series which will be based off of Dolly Parton’s musical catalogue.

The new scripted series, which is currently without a title, is set to span over eight episodes. Each episode will center around one of Parton’s songs.

This isn’t the first time the narrative storytelling in Parton’s music and lyrics have inspired a scripted television adaptation.

Some might recall that not long ago, NBC released the made-for-TV movies Coat of Many Colors, and Coat of Many Colors: Circle of Love.

Both movies, which aired around the holidays, were inspired by the Country music superstar’s song of the same name, which also happens to be her favorite she’s ever written.

Those who enjoyed NBC’s Coat of Many Colors movies might also be interested to know that Sam Haskell, who oversaw production of both of the movies, is said to be involved in the new Netflix anthology series.

As for Dolly Parton herself, the country icon is reportedly “thrilled” for Netflix adapt some of her biggest hits.

“As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music,” said Parton in a statement with regards to the new anthology series. “I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favorite songs to life with Netflix. We hope our show will inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations, and I want to thank the good folks at Netflix and Warner Bros. TV for their incredible support.”

We’ll be curious to see which of Parton’s songs end up getting the television adaptation treatment — with so much material to work with, Netflix certainly won’t be without options!
