BBC America is launching a new program. The popular Nerdist podcast and website will have a shot at getting a regular show with opening guests of Matt Smith and Craig Ferguson.

According to the BBC America press release:

Based on the popular Nerdist blog and podcast, Nerdist creator Chris Hardwick sits down with comedian and chat show host Craig Ferguson and Doctor Who’s Matt Smith for a half hour special where they chat on all things nerds love, from pop culture and news to tech trends and more. The Nerdist premieres Saturday, September 24, 10:00pm ET/PT as part of the Ministry of Laughs

There is more information over on The Nerdist site where frontrunner, Chris Hardwicke makes this plea, “Okay, so, we now know this: The Nerdist TV special will air Saturday, September 24th. It’ll be on at 10 pm, 9 Central, on BBC America, featuring Chris, Jonah, Matt, Mike Phirman, and special guest Craig Ferguson. It is good. You will like. And you should watch, because the more people who watch it, the more likely there’ll be more made. So tell your friends. Tell your enemies. Tell people of whom you have no strong opinion either way. Feel free to tell everyone. We appreciate your help in getting the word out.”

This will be the second venture for Chris Hardwicke with BBC America. He is currently appearing in the Doctor Who: Best of the Doctor specials that begin airing tonight.
