Miss Doctor Who Confidential? Fear not, Whovians! The BBC have just released a making of documentary for tonight’s episode.

BBC Three controller Zai Bennett caused controversy late last year when he announced that the documentary series, which focused on the making of each week’s Doctor Who episode. Bennett cited the programme’s longevity – it lasted six series – and that Confidential had said all it needed to as reasons for the axe. However, fans were unimpressed defending the documentary series as a cheap programme to make that lived up to the broadcasters mantra of “Educate, Entertain, Inform.” Despite a hugely successful Twitter campaign and an internet petition which garnered over 50,000 signatures, Doctor Who Confidential won’t be returning to our screens for series 7 or (presumably) the big 50th anniversary.

While a weekly 45 minute slice of behind the scenes goodness may be dead and gone, the producers of Doctor Who have tried their best to deliver weekly serving of the making of each episode in Confidential‘s absence. And true to form, the BBC website has released a short documentary for “Dinosaurs on a Spaceship”.

In case you missed it, there’s also a mini-documentary for last week’s season premiere which focuses on the making of the range of Daleks used and the impressive explosion used to blow them up.
