There have been Doctor Who specials for Children in Need since the series was relaunched. The date has just been announced for this year’s version.

According to Doctor Who TV:

The BBC has now confirmed that they will be showing an exclusive sneak preview of the 2011 Doctor Who Christmas Special during the live appeal on Friday 18th November.

There are no further details on what we can expect. Last year, we got to see a minute trailer for A Christmas Carol. But it’s possible we might get to see an early clip from the episode.

These specials usually don’t air in the US at the same time. We either get them months later as a general Doctor Who warm up the night of the Christmas Special, or only on the DVD. So likely we’ll be scouting YouTube for the episode again this year.

Here’s a look back at previous Doctor Who: Children in Need specials.

Which Children in Need Special is your favorite. Do you prefer the previews or separate scenes? I’ve always thought that Time Crash has yet to be topped.
