Doctor Who season 9, episode 10 airs tonight, and an old acquaintance is calling for help from the the Doctor and Clara.

Rigsy, played by Joivan Wade, is back in tonight’s episode called “Face the Raven.” We last met Rigsy in season 8, in the episode entitled “Flatline.” In “Flatline,” Rigsy was one of the few people to notice that citizens were disappearing, and then turning into 2-D attackers. This time, Rigsy has Clara’s number and he’s not afraid to phone a friend when he has a strange problem.

The official synopsis from the BBC states:

The Doctor and Clara, with their old friend Rigsy, find themselves in a magical alien world, hidden on a street in the heart of London. Sheltered within are some of the most fearsome creatures of the universe, and Ashildr! With a death sentence hanging over their heads, not all of the intruders will get out alive.

The last time we saw Ashildr, played by Maisie Williams, was in episode 6. She appeared in the back of a photograph taken by Clara. Ashildr gave every impression that she was stalking Clara from a distance.

All of this makes us wonder if our theory that Clara is actually dead is true. Is it possible that Clara dies at the hands of Ashildr this episode? The episode’s title is “Face the Raven.” Ravens are often seen as bad omens and signs of death, so facing a raven (Hogwarts imagery aside) doesn’t seem like a particularly good thing. No one is getting a letter inviting them into Ravenclaw where they might have a chance to meet Luna Lovegood.

Regardless if our Clara death theory is spot-on or not, we think Rigsy might make a really good travelling companion for the Doctor. He might at least be a temporary companion, or maybe he and a friend can team up with the Doctor once Clara departs.

Doctor Who airs tonight on BBC America at 9:00 p.m.
