New posters reveal the title of the Doctor Who season 7 finale, and it’s very different from what we thought! It also hints that a big mystery will finally be solved.

When the oldest question in the universe is answered, the silence will fall. This was the bombshell which was dropped on Doctor Who viewers a while back, and ever since then, fans have been speculating what exactly this question is – and when it will inevitably be answered.

As far as what the question is, it seems obvious that it is the one major question posed by the series from the very beginning, right before our eyes: Doctor Who? It is, after all, what it all comes back to, every single time.

The mystery of the Doctor’s name has been running since the show began, and now these new posters released by the BBC reveals when we’ll finally find out what it is: the season 7 finale, which was previously believed to be titled “The Funeral of River Song.” But now, it looks like the title will be “The Name of the Doctor.”

This movie-style poster promises that this episode will see, “His secret revealed,” and also lists the three main actors in this installment: Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman, as well as Alex Kingston as River Song.

Although the rumoured title indicated that River would play a pivotal part in this episode, it’s nice to see proof that she’ll have a very prominent role (as opposed to just showing up at the end).

The Doctor Who season 7 finale was written by showrunner Steven Moffat, and airs on May 18 both in the U.K. and in the U.S.

The short synopsis reads: “Someone is kidnapping the Doctor’s friends, leading him towards the one place in all of time and space that he should never go.”

How do you think the name will be revealed? And what will it be? After all, they’ve had almost 50 years to build up to this point – they can’t exactly call him Ralph, can they? On the other hand, something like “Styxixtyrrixon” probably wouldn’t go down well with the audience, either.

Hey, maybe it’s Jack. Game changer!
