Another week, another Doctor Who rumour! Allegedly, the new companion played by Jenna-Louise Coleman will have an unusual love interest – a character you’re probably familiar with!

As always, we preface this article with a reminder that British tabloids are notorious for fabricating stories entirely, especially when it comes to Doctor Who. While they occasionally pick up genuine news, they have a disappointing track record for falsifying at least half of their Who news. So, you’ll want to take this article with enough salt to season a year’s supply of chips in the Tyler household. But, you know that already. On with the rumours!

The Daily Star is reporting that Madame Vastra, the Victorian Silurian who made her début in last year’s “A Good Man Goes To War” will return to the show next year, and that she will fall for the new companion as played by Jenna-Louise Coleman. Vastra was a hit with fans, with many calling for Steven Moffat to give the character and her maid/lover Jenny their own spin-off series.

One of the newspaper’s sources allegedly told reporters, “Steven Moffat loves to shake up the show. What better way than a lesbian storyline?”

Coleman has previously taken on a lesbian role in Emmerdale.

Do you believe the rumours? If they were to come to fruition, would you like to see a relationship between the new companion and the Silurian warrior?
