Doctor Who will be leaving Amazon Prime and landing at HBO Max after the streaming service closed a huge deal with BBC studios.

HBO Max, which will already be the streaming home for all 236 episodes Friends, the entire run of Game of Thrones, Pretty Little Liars and the vast pantheon of DCCW shows, has added another major TV show to its roster.

Deadline announced earlier today that the newest streaming giant on the scene will now have the exclusive rights to the BBC sci-fi hit Doctor Who.

HBO Max will stream all 11 seasons of Doctor Who’s modern era run, meaning that fans will be able to binge all the adventures of the Doctor from Christopher Eccleston to Jodie Whittaker when the service launches in spring 2020.

While the new Doctor Who episodes will still air on BBC/BBC America, HBO Max will become their exclusive streaming home for after they air.

Doctor Who comes to HBO Max as part of a deal WarnerMedia struck with BBC Studios. The deal likewise includes 700 episodes of BBC’s top and most loved shows, such as the original Ricky Gervais version of The Office, Top Gear, Luther — starring Idris Elba — and the Peabody Award winning, Maggie Gyllenhaal fronted show The Honorable Woman.

The deal also includes new original programming such as Pure, Trigonometry, Stath Lets Flats, Home, and Ghosts, which are all shows that will be exclusive to HBO Max.

Kevin Reilly, HBO Max Chief Content Office, praised the deal between the two studios, saying “Doctor Who is one of television’s all-time, most beloved series, on both sides of the pond, and we are happy to be the exclusive streaming stewards for this BBC gem — Another series to further define the high-quality content experience consumers can expect from HBO Max.”

The streaming service will launch in Spring 2020!
