The BBC website came alive with new Doctor Who information overnight: stills, trailer dates, and more. They are launching a major hashtag campaign #SaveTheDay which will lead to even more information being released based upon fan participation.

According to the #SaveTheDay campaign, fans need to help the Doctor out. “The Doctor likes a hashtag. Conversations across the Universe all held together by tiny little pins of chattery topics. Show your support for the Doctor with hashtag #SaveTheDay to build the new digital TARDIS and help to unlock sneak peeks from the 50th Anniversary episode, The Day of the Doctor.” The reigning Doctor himself, Matt Smith, explains the #SaveTheDay campaign that goes along with the new website doctorwhosavetheday.com in the video below.

The website itself is far more high tech than anything we’ve seen in recent years from the BBC. It definitely has a movie quality, almost Star Wars, feel to it. It will be interesting to see how quickly user generated content can be added to the site, how the site responds to the volume of visitors, and then how quickly the promised new content is revealed.

On top of the new website, the BBC has announced that the long awaited trailer for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary will debut on Saturday November 9th on BBC1. It is to air on BBC1 at 8:00pm, and BBC America stated via their Twitter account, “Good news! We can confirm that we will be posting the trailer for #TheDayoftheDoctor this Saturday #SavetheDay” So, look to YouTube for its appearance shortly after 8:00pm GMT.

For fans missing the 10th and 11th Doctor in action, several stills showcasing their return to Doctor Who have just been released. Joanna Page is also prominently featured as Queen Elizabeth I.

Just when you thought there couldn’t be any more information, Strax is back with another of his famous filed reports. This time out he is talking Zygons.

After many weeks of not much information, it looks like the BBC is ramping up their PR campaign for the 50th anniversary.
