Doctor Who‘s next lead, who’s also the first female Doctor, is getting the money she deserves.

In comments made during the British National Television Awards on Tuesday night, Jodie Whittaker confirmed that she’d be receiving the same salary as her predecessor, Peter Capaldi.

The news comes in the midst of the #MeToo movement and as the Oscar-nominated film All The Money in the World fields criticism for not paying Michelle Williams the same salary as her co-star Mark Wahlberg. Equal pay has always been an issue in Hollywood, but achieving parity has recently been under majority scrutiny as the film and TV industry tries to sort out its many problems.

“It’s a bit of a shock that it’s a surprise to everyone that it should be supported!” Whittaker said Tuesday. “I know I do not speak just on behalf of the women here, I speak on behalf of the men and the women.”

Digital Spy says the actress “made sure” she was paid as much as Capaldi, who wrapped his run as the Doctor late last year.

With the salary in a good place, how’s the rest of the production going? “Yeah, it’s great. I love it,” she said. “I get to see all the best places [in the show’s universe]!”

Doctor Who returns later this year.
