Several Doctor Who items have gone on sale in special online auctions for Children In Need – and Hollywood legend Tom Hanks has discussed the show’s roots in American television with Craig Ferguson!
The BBC always like to get behind the annual Children In Need charity telethon, and this year is no exception. Not only will we be treated to a prologue, trailer, and title for this year’s Christmas special later tonight (as part of the fundraising efforts), but the organisation has also launched a series of charity auctions featuring stars of its most popular shows.
Doctor Who‘s leading men of past and present donated to the cause, with the most notable item being a hand cast of Matt Smith which was created at the unveiling of the series 7 items at the Doctor Who Experience earlier this year (selling for £560 at the time of writing). If the Tenth Doctor and Captain Jack Harkness are more your thing than the BBC have just the auctions for you, with Pudsey bears signed by David Tennant and John Barrowman up for auction until Monday. All proceeds from the sale go to Children In Need.
Across the pond, the Doctor got Hollywood A-Lister Tom Hanks talking when he appeared as a guest on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Being all too aware of the host’s obsession with Who, Hanks brought the show up in conversation – which lead to plenty of jokes and humorous comparisons to Star Trek.

Later on tonight, fans will be treated to a prequel, first trailer and the title of this year’s Christmas special which will feature Jenna-Louise Coleman’s debut as full time companion (despite an early appearance as Oswin Oswald in “Asylum of the Daleks” earlier this year).
