The Doctor Who team was out in full force in Wales again. Characters that we saw the other day were back again as well as some new faces. SPOILERS

The cast and crew filmed in the Llantristant church area with some difficulty. Matt Smith seemed to have a problem getting his lines right resulting in multiple takes. He finally got a round of applause when he nailed it after the fifth go or so. The entire crew cheered when he got it right. Smith’s job is safe as human memory wasn’t the only problem. The crew apparently didn’t secure the TARDIS properly when they erected it, and the door came off.

As reported yesterday, some overheard dialogue seems to indicate the exact location which was made more atmospheric with the use of considerable fog. Also the Doctor’s skills at landing in an exact time and place are about as good as the past.

It would appear to be the same episode they were shooting the other day, “The Crimson Horror”, by Mark Gatiss. Setting dressing posters may give more clues as to how they are explaining aliens in Victorian times.

Never fear though, many things did in fact go right. Madam Vastra was seen in exquisite Victorian dress. The detail of her costume and the realism of the make-up was noted by more than one onlooker. She even hissed and posed for photos to the delight of the fans watching.

Dan Starkey who played the disgraced Sotaran Commander Strax is back as apparently Madame Vastra’s Butler. At one point he held up a jar of red liquid, presumably the Crimson Horror referred to in the title.

So what exactly was filmed? According to Aimee, an onlooker:

As we arrived we watched a scene where Jeremiah (the other character played by Brendan Patricks) knocks on a door asking for Madame Vastra, saying he’s travelled all the way from London. Then who answers the door but Commander Strax(Dan Starkey) in a butler’s suit!…What other scenes were filmed? To be honest at times it was hard to tell because they were filming in a little alley way set between two houses (apparently there are more houses set further back into it) so we could see very little. From what we could hear they filmed both the arrival and departing scenes of the Tardis.

Aimee also took some wonderful photos seen below, but there is an vast collection on her blog along with more video.
