Doctor Who star Karen Gillan appeared on The One Show earlier this evening to promote the start of series 7 – and her colleague Nicholas Briggs (the Daleks voice artist) played a hilarious prank on commuters and shoppers!

Briggs has voiced the Doctor’s arch-adversaries since the show was revived in 2005, and while lead actors and showrunners have come and gone, Nicholas has remained the only constant staple in modern Who. While usually confined to the voice booth, the actor came out in full force today to play a nasty (but hilarious) prank on the commuters of a train station and shoppers of a local superstore. Check out the video below, courtesy of Doctor Who TV.

The video was filmed as part of Karen Gillan’s appearance on BBC’s The One Show this evening, where she spoke about her first and last day on the set of Doctor Who – as well as the colors of Daleks and the origins of their names (she wasn’t aware that Dalek was an anagram of Kaled, the race from which the creepy squid-like creatures mutated from). While the video throws nothing new up in particular, any interview with Karen is a good one by our standards!

Taking over intercoms isn’t the only mischief the Daleks have been up to today, as the Doctor Who Twitter feed was also intercepted by a rather enthusiastic and forceful cyborg.

What do you think of the videos? How would you react if you heard a Dalek’s voice echoing around you while going about your daily business?
