The Doctor Who advent calendar continues to spill Whovian goodies. Today we get a brief but more detailed look at the Christmas episode.

If anyone was worried that Clara, the new companion as played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, was going to be too passive and possibly overwhelmed by the Doctor, think again! Unlike many of the new companions, she doesn’t at all seem shy, reluctant, or slightly intimidated by The Doctor. In fact, she’s got things well in hand…literally well-in-hand as the teaser shows.

The teaser also shows glimpses of Madame Vastra, Strax and Jenny in their London home with guest star Tom Ward (seen above). Speaking of Strax, Dan Starkey, who plays him describes him as the awkward little bother of Jenny and Vastra.

There are two items of note in the teaser. One, the voice of Ian McKellen can be heard stating “Tomorrow the snow shall fall and so shall mankind.” McKellen was confirmed last week as the voice of the snowmen.

Secondly, Clara gets to ask the question that every guest star wants to ask, “Doctor who?” What’s more interesting though, is what the Doctor responds, given that last we knew he had erased himself from time, “That’s a very dangerous question to ask.” It certainly stirs up the soft mystery concept that Jenna Louise Coleman alluded to in her EW interview.

Lastly the Blogtor Who got a preview of the Doctor Who magazine that is out tomorrow. There is key information about the second half of the series and the nature of those episodes.

The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, out tomorrow, has revealed new information regarding Doctor Who on television in 2013. Producer Marcus Wilson states:

• The “2013 series” (Series 7, Part 2) has finished shooting (Dec 2012).
• The back end of the schedule includes “very heavy VFX episodes”.
• Series 7, Part 2 will begin in on television in April 2013.
• The “Anniversary Special” will start shooting in April 2013 and is a “love letter to fans”.

What do you make of Jenna-Louise Coleman’s character using the “Doctor who?” classic line? Do you think April is too long to wait for the second half of the current series?
