Doctor Who star Matt Smith has spoken about Coraline and Stardust writer Neil Gaiman’s second episode – and the first piece of casting news has been revealed!

Gaiman, who previously wrote “The Doctor’s Wife” for last year’s series 6, has penned a second adventure for the Eleventh Doctor – and production is about to begin for his 2013 outing. The read through for the currently untitled episode took place yesterday (appropiately on Halloween!), and Gaiman tweeted the following picture of himself with new companion Jenna-Louise Coleman.

Doctor Who Magazine editor Benjamin Cook was also present, and added his two cents on the script – promising fans “something really special.”

But what did the show’s star have to say about the episode? Doctor Who TV shared Matt Smith’s thoughts with Whovians:

“It’s very different [to The Doctor’s Wife]. But again I think it will be a fan’s favourite because, well, without giving anything away, it just will be, because there’s something in it… Neil’s brilliant ideas will always add a level to Doctor Who, which will be interesting.”

And in the last of a flurry of Neil Gaiman related Doctor Who news, the first piece of casting news has been revealed. Calvin Dean (an English actor who has previously appeared in The Sarah Jane Adventures) will appear in the episode as the interestingly named “Ha-Ha.”

We expect more news and filming reports to appear as production begins in the coming weeks. Hypable will be sure to keep you updated on all of the latest developments!
