As the most wonderful time of the year draws ever closer, Doctor Who has announced this year’s “Adventure Calendar” to count down to the show’s 2012 Christmas special!

Advent Calendars are boring. Sure, you get a piece of chocolate every day (or a festive themed image showing you how idyllic everyone else’s yuletide celebrations are) but then the fun is over. The folks over at Doctor Who have given the advent calendar a regeneration, and packed it with the excitement and reward that every Whovian craves. Today, the BBC unveiled their plans for the Doctor Who adventure calendar!

From tomorrow (December 1), fans will be able to log on to the Adventure Calendar page and view a Christmassy-themed Doctor Who treat. It may be a new image, an exclusive video, interviews and some extra special surprises. Though most of the adventure calendar goodies are shrouded in secrecy so far, it has been confirmed that among the surprises will be a brand new story written by Joeseph Lidster (the man behind John Watson’s Blog, created for Steven Moffat’s other show, Sherlock), and an exclusive and revealing interview with brand new companion Jenna-Louise Coleman.

In fitting with the theme of series 7’s “blockbuster” episodes, the BBC have given the logo a fresh lick of paint with a festive feel. Check it out below!

Hypable will be sure to share highlights of the month’s proceedings, as well as regular recaps as we count down to Christmas day, and (more importantly) the debut of “The Snowmen”.

Are you looking forward to the Doctor Who adventure calendar?
