In preparation for Saturday’s broadcast of Doctor Who series 7 opener “Asylum of the Daleks,” the BBC have released a string of new images which give us a closer look at the Special Weapons Dalek and The Doctor entering a mysterious room…

Only four days to go, Whovians! While the wait may have been excruciating, it already feels like Doctor Who is back, because we’ve been provided with daily advent calendar-like goodies for series 7 for the last two weeks. Today, it’s another load of promo pictures. Though largely shots of dusty Daleks in dusty rooms or our favorite Time Lord exploring an eerily green room, we do get two small insights. The first is the closest look at the Special Weapons Dalek since 1988’s “Remembrance of the Daleks,” and the second shot is of The Doctor entering a comparatively light room (which looks strangely similar to the Classic Doctor’s TARDIS interior… though we’re probably reading too far into this).

In case you missed yesterday’s big news, the first part of mini web-series “Pond Life” was unleashed online. The following four parts will follow today through to Friday, teeing us up for Saturday’s broadcast of “Asylum of the Daleks” in the United Kingdom, United States and Canada.

“Kidnapped by his oldest foe, the Doctor is forced on an impossible mission – to a place even the Daleks are too terrified to enter…. the Asylum. A planetary prison confining the most terrifying and insane of their kind, the Doctor and the Ponds must find an escape route. But with Amy and Rory’s relationship in meltdown, and an army of mad Daleks closing in, it is up to the Doctor to save their lives, as well as the Pond’s marriage.”
