Doctor Who brings guns, cyborgs, aliens and batwing doors in the first promo video for “A Town Called Mercy” – along with an introduction from the stars!

After the rip-roaring blockbuster escapades of tonight’s “Dinosaurs on a Spaceship,” it’s about time the action was brought firmly back down to Earth for the first time this series. Guest stars Andrew Brooke (Phone Shop), Ben Browder (Farscape), and Adrian Scarborough (Gavin & Stacy) meet The Doctor, Amy and Rory for a gunslinging standoff in the American Wild West – filmed in Spain.

The episode introduction featuring some of Doctor Who‘s stars can also be seen below.

“Doctor Who returns this autumn to the BBC, starring Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill as they head off on five epic adventures.

“From Daleks to dinosaurs and an alien with a grudge, this series features a whole host of guest stars, including: David Bradley, Rupert Graves, Stephen Berkoff, Mike McShane, Ben Browder, Adrian Scarbourgh and Anamaria Marinca.

A tale of war, betrayal and vengeance, converging on one small town in the Old West – a town under siege. Just crossing the boundary line summons a not-quite-human killer from the desert haze. The Doctor finds himself not just in the crossfire of an ancient conflict (a cyborg killer and an alien fugitive) but faced with a moral dilemma. Which side should he take? Who really is the victim here?”

“A Town Called Mercy” airs at 7:35 p.m. GMT on BBC One in the United Kingdom, and follows later in the United States and Canada at 9:00 p.m. EST on BBC America and Canada respectively. Australian viewers will be able to catch the episode on iview following the British broadcast.
